ALMORA

Precisely called cultural city of Uttrakhand, Almora, this enchanting hill station is situated at an average elevation of 1,650 meters and is spread across a 5 km ridge atop Kashyap Hill. Almora is situated on a horse shoe shaped ridge, which eastern portion called Talifat and western region called selifat. This famous hill staion is well known for its rich cultural heritage, beauty, penaromic mountain view, unique handicraft, famous Bal mithai and 200 years old lala bazar. Because of these unique characteristics Almora become one of the biggest business hub of Kumaon region. Dwindling pines and old oaks, the city has a divine natural aura that is enough to allure anyone and everyone. To make the scenery even more mesmerizing, the snow-capped Himalayas stand in utmost grandeur to please the eyes of the admirer. The near by places like Chitai Golu temple, Kasar Devi temple, Jageshwar Dham the “12th Jyotirlingas”, magnificent snowy peaks of Himalaya and the abundance flora and fauna are integral part of this beautiful city. Almora is also well famous for angora rabit’s fur, Angora shawl and copper vessels which business is well established from British time. Almora’s sunrise & sunset with coffee at Bright end corner is a world famous spot. In young age Swami Vivekanand ji also visited this place while moving towards upper himalayas  for meditation. 

How to reach

By air: The closest airport is Pantnagar airport at a distance of 125 kms. Private taxis are available.

By train: Kathgodam is the nearest railway station approx. 85 Kms.  Commercial taxis and private cars are available for your onward journey to Almora from there.

By road: If you coming from Delhi an overnight bus from Anand Vihar Inter State Bus Terminal will drop you at Almora. Its approx. 370 Kms far from Delhi. Best time to visit : September to March
