PINDARI GLACIER

Situated in Bageshwar district in upper range of kumaon Himalayas, to the southwest of gamous peak Nanda Devi & nanda Kot this glacier is 3000 meter long and approx. 370 meters wide. Located at an elevation of 3,353mts above sea level in the Bageshwar district of Uttarakhand, Pindari Glacier is the most accessible glacier in Kumaon Himalaya. This Glacier also origin to Pindari river which meets with Alaknanda river at he confluence of Karanprayag in Chamoli Garhwal. Near by villages Saung, loharkhet, Khati Dwali, Phurkia are the integral part of this Pindari trail which ends to zero point at Pindari Glacier, most of the the trail is at bank of the Pindar river where Pindar is almost diaper after Kahti. The trail becomes challenging and requires you to fit enough to cross mountain ridges, spider-walls, bridges and streams. However, the unearthly beauty of the final point or Zero Point shall make you forget all the sufferings and hardships. This famous trek is a week’s trek comfortably can be done in 06 to 07 days’ time period where one do cover approx. 90 miles round trip. Here in this glacier mountain adventure activities also be organised i.e. mountain biking & ice climbing.  

How to reach

By air: The closest airport is Pantnagar airport at a distance of 225 kms. Private taxis are available.

By train: Kathgodam is the nearest railway station approx. 190 Kms.  Commercial taxis and private cars are available for your onward journey to Pindari from there.

By road: If you coming from Delhi an overnight bus from Anand Vihar Inter State Bus Terminal will drop you at Bageshwar. Its approx. 440 Kms far from Delhi.

Best time to visit: Around the year except monsoon
