In Uttrakhand we have many pristine water bodies around the states. Some are natural and some are manmade. Tehri lake is such dreamlike water destination, situated at a height of 1700 meters from sea level. Tehri is artificial water reservoir made over river Bhagirathi offers a peaceful and tranquil natural vicinity. The Tehri Dam is the highest dam in India and one of the highest in the world, which construction begins in year 1978 and which phase 1 completed in 2006. Tehri Lake now established as one of the most popular destinations for adventure seekers specially for water sports. variety of water sports here including Canoeing, Rowing, Boating, Water scooter, speed Boating, Rafting, and Kayaking. This lake does attract thousands of adventure sports lovers all year round. One should also visit Tehri Dam during the Tehri Lake Festival, it’s a perfect combination of water sports, cultural activities, performances and witnessing local culture.

How to reach

By air: The closest airport is Jollygrant airport at a distance of 91 kms. Private taxis are available.

By train: Rishikesh & Haridwar both Railway stations are the closest rail-head to New Tehri. Commercial taxis and private cars are available for your onward journey to New Tehri from there.

By road: If you coming from Delhi an overnight bus from Anand Vihar Inter State Bus Terminal will drop you at Rishikesh. You can take a private or local taxi to Tehri from there. From all other places/ cities of Uttrakhand it is well connected.
