JAGESHWAR

Jageshwar also known as one of the jyotirlingas the ashtham jyotirlinga Nagesham Darukavane. The temple is believed to be constructed by Adi Shankaracharya. It was customary for pilgrims on way to Kailash Mansarovar route to stop and worship Lord Shiva here and seek his blessings. Jageshwar Dham is one of the biggest group of temples located in a single complex in the world, a group of 125 temples complex Some of the main temples are the Dandeshwar Temple, Jageshwar Temple, Surya Temple, Kuber Temple, Chandi ka Temple, Mritunjaya Temple, Nanda Devi Temple and the Kuber Temple. If someone wish to explore moreabout local tradition and culture should participate in two main festivals in a years’ time which are celebrated in the town of Jageshwar. First one is Jageshwar Monsoon Festival which is held during the month of August and the another is Shivarathri Mela which is held in the spring season.

How to reach

By air: The closest airport is Pantnagar airport at a distance of 170 kms. Private taxis are available.

By train: Kathgodam is the nearest railway station approx. 130 Kms.  Commercial taxis and private cars are available for your onward journey  from there.

By road: If you coming from Delhi an overnight bus from Anand Vihar Inter State Bus Terminal will drop you at Almora. Its approx. 425 Kms far from Delhi.
