Srinagar, wow Dal lake, maple trees, gulmarg…no no no stop stop.. in Uttrakhand we have the beautiful city of Srinagar. Yes its true, Srinagar city in Garhwal Himalayas. Nested in Pauri district of Garhwal Himalayas at an elevation of 600 meters from sea level. Srinagar is an ancient city, known for its natural beauty that embodies nearby mountains, rich flaura and the wide River Alakananda. It is believed the Sri Yantra (Rock) is submerged in Alaknanda and Sri Adi Shankaracharya impelled in it. On the left bank of mighty Alknanada river lies one of the biggest city of Garhwal mountains and is also an educational hub for entire region. Tourists who are seeking an insight into this city’s culture and religious significance must visit the place during the Baikunth Chaturdashi Mela which is a multi-days festival, and during the event, various folk & cultural programmes are organized by locals. Srinagar provides the gateway to many important hill stations and pilgrimage sites in Uttarakhand like Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Karnprayg, Joshimath, Kedarnath, Badrinath etc. Distinct from the climate of hill stations the city is hot and humid. The important pilgrims sites of the city involves Kamleshwar Mahadeshwar temple whose blessing is known to provide child to the childless couple and Dhari Devi temple which is located in the middle of the mighty Alaknanda.

How to reach

By Train / By Road: The nearest railway stations are Rishikesh which is 110 Kms far from Srinagar. Another nearest Raliway station is Haridwar 136 km away from Srinagar. After reaching the railway stations, one can easily get a taxi/bus to Srinagar. Haridwar railway station hass better rail connectivity in comparison to Rishikesh.

By Air: Srinagar is 130 Km far from Dehradun Airport, which is the nearest one from where visitors can easily get a cab to reach here.
