NANAKMATTA

Nanakmatta is a major and very important Sikh pilgrim place which lies in situated in the Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand, on the Rudrapur to Tanakpur route. It is believed that Guru Nanak, the first Sikh Guru visited this place to meditate. This place keeps high values for the Sikhs as Guru Nanak visited the place sometime in the early 16th century during his third Udasi. Udasis were the long journeys that Guru Nanak undertook to spread his message of truth, love, and peace. The sixth Guru Hargobind Ji also visited this scared place after more than a century. At the rear of the Nanakmatta Gurudwara is situated a pond, known as Sarovar which is filled with beautiful radiant fish that seem to swim to the strains of the Gurbani emerging from the Holy place. It is situated on the bank of Deoha stream, which has since been dammed into a reservoir named Nanak Sagar. Nanak matta dam is one of the most popular attraction in the town it is a large water reservoir. This lake is perfect place for picnic, boating, fishing, tranquil water of the lake and quite air add up to calm surroundings.

By air: Pantnagar Airport is the nearest Airport situated at a distance of 60 kms. Taxis are available from Airport.

By train: The nearest railway station is Nearest railway station is at Khatima 15 Kms. Commercial taxis and private cars are available for your onward journey from there.

By road: Nanakmatta is well connected by motorable roads with major destinations of Uttarakhand state.
