Around 60 Kms from Chamoli city it the largest town in the Chamoli District. Being largest infrastructural set up it is also administrative headquarters of the district. Gopeshwar is famous for its picturesque beauty and the plethora of panoramic views of the rich ridges and mountains. This place is majorly famous for ancient Gopeshwar temple which is the major attraction of the place, dedicated to Lord Shiva and which is very popular for its architecture follows the typical Hindu architecture traditions based on Vastu Shastra. The temple has 24 doors that provide access to the temple. The trident which is made from eight different metals and dates back to the 12th century is the salient feature of the temple. Also another major place for belief is then there is Vaitrani Kund. The town of Gopeshwar and the regions is paradise for adventure seekers. The town is hub of trekkers and mountain climbing enthusiasts. Being scared place Non vegetarian dishes are not available in the town however some dhabas in highway may serve non veg food.

How to reach

By air: The closest airport is Jollygrant airport at a distance of 225 kms. Private taxis are available.

By train: Rishikesh & Haridwar both Railway stations are the closest rail-head to Chamoli approx. 205 Kms away. Commercial taxis and private cars are available for your onward journey to Chamoli from there.

By road: If you coming from Delhi an overnight bus from Anand Vihar Inter State Bus Terminal will drop you at Rishikesh. You can take a private or local taxi to Chamoli from there. From all other places/ cities of Uttrakhand it is well connected.
