BAGESHWAR

Bageshwar the “Land of Shiva” is located at confluence of two holy rivers Saryu & Gomati at the height of 1000 meters, It is small hill city called . Popular since the ancient times the place Bageshwar & Bagnath temple also has its description in many Puranas.  Bagnath temple’s narrative’s was first mentioned “Shiv Purana”. It was also said this city was built by Chandeesh. This holy city is also known as “Kashi of Uttrakhand”. The present name Bageshwar is derived out the popular “Bagnath temple” located in the heart of the city. The place also has many big and small temples located in the vicinity dedicated to Gods and Godesses. The city is classified by Bhileshwar and Nileshwar on east & west sides, while in north lies suraj kund and south lies agni kund. This city has great cultural, historical and political significance. Famous Uttrayani fair embarking the rich culture is held annually and draws crowd from all over Uttarakhand. Its climate is relatively warm against the perception of hill station.

How to reach

By Train / By Road: The nearest railway station to Bageshwar is located in Kathgodam, which is approx 160 km away from here. By Road you can  16 hours drive to Bageshwar from Delhi. Bageshwar is well connected from all major cities by road.

By Air: The closest airport is at Pantnagar, which is placed around 10 hours drive away. Pantanagar have few scheduled flights from Delhi.  From Dehradun Airport its 176 Kms and approx. 10 hours Drive.
